Jon Spano’s short plays have been produced at several New York festivals including the American Globe 15-Minute Play Festival; the Samuel French Short Play Festival; Fresh Fruit Summer Play Festival; Theatre Three; and Emerging Artists Theatre’s One-Act Festival. Plays selected include Ripple EffectJust UsLabor Day Weekend, and Eighth Wonder (all published by Smith & Kraus). Other one-acts include Real Smiles and Family Comes First.  Mr. Spano’s drama The Poetry of Cars has had staged readings at The Barrow Group and Emerging Artists Theatre. New full-length works include Muskego Lake; ALANG (2013 semi-finalist at the O’Neill Playwrights Conference); and The Sweat.  His dance play Joey Variations was a semi-finalist at both Lark Play Development Center and the O’Neill Playwrights Conference.

Mr. Spano danced professionally for fifteen years and has performed on tour, in Europe, and at the Public Theatre (Peggy and Jackson) and Duo Theatre in New York. During his transition from dancer-to-playwright, Mr. Spano graduated from New York University. He studied acting with Sanford Meisner and William Alderson and is a member of SAG-AFTRA, The Dramatists Guild, and Best Friends Animal Shelter.
